by Return to Me: Lenten Reflections by Holy Cross 2019
I love it when we try to tell the Lord what we think we need: "God if I just get this promotion, then I will be happier. God, I want to be accepted by this particular group. God, will you open the doors for me to access this real estate investment property?"
Our tradition reminds us that God is omniscient, omnipresent and omnipotent. God knows what we need. God knows how we need it, and God knows when we need it. So, why do I seek to take control of the "steering wheel" when God already knows my innermost thoughts and deisres? Isn't He the One who created me after all? How will I prosper if not by living according to His ways and His leadings?
Lord, today, I choose to be with You and not against You. I will listen for Your voice and go the way You command me.
